Saturday 18th July was the 3rd match for the Primary Girls and sixteen young ladies enjoyed their close game with the play see-sawing between the two halves of the field.
With the extra players, there was some bunching and at times, loss of keeping position. However with twelve girls having their first season, this can be overlooked as their skills with the ball are extremely pleasing considering their lack of match experience. Friday’s training focus on kicking paid off with many good defence clearing kicks and numerous shots at goals. Well done also for the improved runs to the ball and some great passes out to the wings.
Thanks to Alana, Jaya, Rosie and Abby who played last season and who willingly assisted their team mates at training and during the match. Well done also to Olivia and Abby who returned to play after slight injuries.
Amelia, Aurelia, Charli, Evie, Georgie, Iluka, Jaya and Olivia played in Red team while
Aanya, Abby, Alana, Amani, Anahera, Matilda, Penny and Rosie were Blues.
The teams played three time periods with switches of forwards, mids and backs each break. This gives the girls experience in each position and next week’s game will also see changes between left, centre and right sides of the park.
The coach is very pleased with the enthusiasm and effort all are making and each girl can be proud of herself. Thanks to our Referee and net removers and the supporters for their encouragement (and their social distancing). Hopefully the season will be able to continue if all take care. The latest updates re the Association rules can be found on the Club Facebook posts.
Remember Training at 4:00 on Friday. Our game is on the usual field at 10am this Saturday.
Soccer joke for the week: Why did the coach start a one-year-old on the team?
She was incredible at dribbling!
