Lets start this report by making sure you are all aware how damn cold it was! The wind was strong and bone chilling for the ladies as they lined up to play Sussex at their ground.
We were facing the undefeated leaders of the comp and man did we start strong. Great defence by our back line and some awesome work in the middle from Megan Jones, Lenny Emery and Pearl Delian kept the Seahawks at bay for the whole first half.
The wind decided to add a little more sting by assisting Sussex in scoring a goal very early in the second half. This didn’t dampen the spirits of the ladies as they kept matching their opponents in skill and physicality.
Sadly another goal for Sussex sealed the deal as we went down 2-0. The score did not reflect the mammoth effort from the squad. Considering the reputation Sussex has being undefeated and top of the table we showed them not to underestimate us southerners and that we are a force to be reckoned with. We get a second go at taking a win from Sussex next Thursday for our double header. It will be a great game and I can’t wait to see the girls shine.
